George at Asda bedding review

beddingShopping online to organise a grocery delivery has become relatively commonplace, the ease and convenience mean it’s an option preferred by many. But, had you ever thought of visiting your favourite supermarket online to shop for home wares? Asda has launched a brand new George at Home range which allows quick and easy delivery of items from bedding to furniture, all ordered from the comfort of your own home. This gives you the convenience of internet shopping with the added value of a supermarket brand. However not all items are created equal and today I’m sharing my George at Asda bedding review.logo_george

I’ve always been an advocate of good quality bedding. It’s estimated that we spend around a third of our entire lives in bed, so comfort and relaxation have to be of paramount importance. Therefore a value range of bedding at first seems to fly in the face of such a belief and I was respectfully sceptical that George’s reasonably priced bedding couldn’t ever compete with their more expensive counterparts.

George Home Potting Shed Birds Duvet Set in Single – £10

I absolutely adore the style of this duvet set, the print is gorgeous and the colour perfect. I prewashed it then placed it onto my daughters bed who was in love the moment she saw it!

George Home Lemongrass Fitted Sheet in Single – £5

I teamed the potting shed birds set with this single sheet, they look fabulous together! I was also very impressed by the depth of this fitted sheet, sheets pinging off the mattress are the bane of my life but this sheet has a really good depth to it.

George Home Vintage Patchwork Throw – £20

Bed throws can be notoriously expensive but this throw is a beautiful design for an extremely good price.

George Home London Tube Map Duvet Set in King Size – £18

I loved the design of this duvet set, it’s funky and fresh and looks decidedly more expensive than its selling price.

George Home Parisian Postcard Duvet Set in King Size

This set is definitely my kind of style, the wonderful quirky postcard design and feminine colours scream relaxation and sleep.

Washing

All three sets and sheet washed amazing well. After their second wash the postcard set did feel a little rougher to the touch but this seemed to dissipate after it had been slept on for a night. All the colours have stayed vibrant and no runs have occurred. All in all I am thoroughly impressed.

Comfort

Again all three duvet sets and the sheet performed equally and everyone who has slept upon these beds has slept soundly and comfortably. There has been no compromise in comfort. As mentioned in the washing section the postcard set did feel a little rougher after the second wash but this settled within a night.

Value

The value of these sets, considering their washing and comfort credentials is amazing! I will definitely be buying more sets from George at Asda as and when I need them. They are also proving incredibly popular as several sets already appear to be sold out.

Would I recommend the bedding ranges at George at Asda?

I have and I will. I’m already planning on buying several more bits for myself which I think says it all really. The quality and value is amazing.

See The Lego Movie early on blinkbox offer!

legomovieMy kids have been dying to see the Lego Movie but unfortunately we never had the time to visit the cinema while it was showing. Thankfully blinkbox came to the rescue this week by releasing The Lego Movie a whole two weeks before it’s DVD debut! What’s more they are offering 500 Clubcard points and 50% off tickets to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort with every purchase of the film!

For those unfamiliar with blinkbox you can rent or buy movies and TV shows and watch them on a range of internet devices including games consoles, tablets, Smart TVs, Blu-ray players, set top boxes and desktop computers. When you rent a movie you have 30 days to start watching it. When you buy a movie it’s available permanently through your blinkbox account, yours to keep forever.

The Lego Movie

The problem with high anticipation is it often brings huge disappointment when the reality doesn’t live up to your expectations. I was worried this would be the case with the Lego Movie. I needn’t have been concerned as it was just as witty and engaging as I imagined it would be! My kids loved the wonderful characters and catchy songs while I chuckled along with the humour and digs at adult based Lego perfection. The animation is perfect, the voice overs fantastic and I defy anyone not to get the song ‘Everything is Awesome’ stuck in your head! It was a really great movie which I definitely recommend you all see at once!

‘Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street) the original 3D computer-animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as The Special, the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world.  He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.’

Details of the blinkbox offer

Customers who buy the Lego movie will get a whopping 50% off tickets to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort (up to 4 Adult & 4 Children’s tickets) and 500 Clubcard points which can be transferred into vouchers to spend with Tesco online, in-store, on fuel or exchanged to get four times more value with Clubcard Boost. This offer ends on 31st August. T&Cs apply.

Pricing: £9.99 in SD/£13.99 in HD

PhotoBox App

PhotoBox App

I love taking photos of my adventures with my family, often returning home with hundreds of lovely memories to look through on the computer. Digital cameras and quickly advancing technology mean that photography is no longer the preserve of the professional. Amateurs can also indulge their hobby while creating some lasting mementoes. However the act of uploading, cropping, printing etc. is often lengthy and somewhat boring. I would much rather just grab my iPad and click through an app. With this in mind I spent the weekend testing out the PhotoBox app downloaded for free from the Apple app store.

Having used PhotoBox on the computer some years ago I did manage to sign into my account to view past orders and any uploaded images. IMG_8485I wanted to print this lovely photo of my son taken a few weekends ago. From the beginning I found the app really easy to navigate.

Photobox Products

PhotoBox Products

The app offers a wide selection of product types and gifts as well as the more standard prints, I can imagine its popularity will increase near Christmas time.

Canvas Lite

Canvas Lite

I chose to order a Canvas Lite which is PhotoBox’s cheapest canvas option. The size I picked was 30.5cm X 20.3cm and cost just £10 (before P&P).

IMG_0304

I pressed ‘Customise’ to choose my image and check the orientation and quality of my picture. There is also the option to wrap the image completely around the edges of the canvas. I chose the normal wrap option as the app indicated that the bottom of my son’s shoes were too low down for a full wrap, plus the unhappy smiley face suggested the quality would have been reduced.

Ordering was a doddle, I simply selected my payment method and off whooshed my order.

The canvas arrived really quickly. It appears to be very good quality and not lacking anything considering this was the ‘Lite’ option.  However some kind of miscommunication occurred between the app and the printing process. It had converted my image to landscape and caused bad stretching and an image that I couldn’t display.

IMG_9231

It was a shame that no quality control checks picked up on this mistake. However when I contacted PhotoBox they were very apologetic and immediately reordered the canvas for free in the correct portrait mode. Their technicians are going to look into the issue so hopefully it shouldn’t happen again. For this reason I can’t fault their customer service, they provided a polite and speedy fix to the problem and I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them again.

I also wouldn’t hesitate to use the app again. The process was so quick and simple it’s almost too easy, I may end up with walls completely covered!!
