EcoEgg Review

Almost daily we are surrounded by news stories of global warming, rising pollution, dwindling resources and the higher cost of utilities. Most of us are therefore understandably worried about our personal budgets and environmental footprints. So when a product arrives that promises to help our wallets, lessen our waste and generally make our lives more rosy, it’s undoubtedly an attractive proposition. Enter the EcoEgg!

The EcoEgg promises to clean your laundry for up to 720 washes, the potential savings are obvious if it lives up to these claims. It also contains no harsh chemicals, making it much more environmentally friendly. For the allergy sufferer it promises a hypoallergenic clean that is friendlier to sensitive skin. It’s even available with or without fragrance.

I should stop however and say that while I absolutely felt that the EcoEgg’s message was wonderful, I sturggled to believe that it would actually beat my usual detergent.

So with some apprehension I assembled the EcoEgg and placed some dirty laundry into my machine. Nothing was added apart from the EcoEgg. I deliberately chose items that had become marked in some way so that I could really tell if the EcoEgg had worked.

The results?

To put it simply, it actually cleaned everything! The towels came out supersoft as well. Only one item retained a smidgen of a mark and a subsequent wash with standard detergent has proved that it is a stain of a stubborn nature.

Would I recommend this product?

At first glance the EcoEgg is not cheap at £19.99, but when you add up 720 washes it’s easy to see that it makes for an economical option.

The benefits of ease of use, money saving and eco friendly make it a very hard product to resist and certainly one I couldn’t fail to recommend.

Could it be improved in anyway?

The only downside I found with the EcoEgg was actually putting it together. I really struggled to twist the central plastic tube to make the egg lock into place. After several minutes I had it together, although the end did look a little worse for wear. I would improve and stengthen up this section of the egg if at all possible.

The Grown Up Chocolate Club!

Every once in awhile I come across a product or service that’s so good I simply can’t keep it to myself. Such was the case when I recently discovered the fabulous Grown Up Chocolate Club.

The concept is simple, every month members of the club are sent a wondrous array of unusual chocolates to taste and then feedback on their favourites. Each box contains 31 individual gourmet chocolates plus two bars.

When my February box arrived I was more than a little eager to get stuck in with the tasting, however I resisted and kept them for a dinner party. This had the benefit of giving a wide variety of opinions, plus they looked rather posh as I passed them round 🙂

Our absolute favourites had to be:

Lemon Mint Tea – amazingly flavoursome and refreshing, which is not something you would always associate with a chocolate.

Jasmine Pearl – my favourite comment about this little choc was ‘it tastes like a fancy Jaffa cake’. Funnily enough though it was somewhat reminiscent of that most addictive of snacks, like a polished and refined older sister.

Raspberry, Pepper and Caramel – A wonderful full flavour, endlessly luxuriant fruit and caramel flavour in a crisp dark chocolate shell.

Pear and Parmesan – this little choc has to be the perfect after dinner morsel, smooth, luxurious and with a gentle fruit flavour. The blend of fruit and cheese goes together like a dream.

Raspberries and Cream – this was a wondrous layered chocolate with a heavenly cream layer top and deep raspberry base.

Strawberry and Banana – a deep, crisp dark chocolate shell enclosed a lovely natural blend of strawberry and banana.

Those were just a few of our top picks, but in truth the whole box was a wonderful taste exploration.

With Mother’s Day fast approaching this would make the perfect gift for any chocolate lover. Even if you’re not experienced in the world of gourmet chocolates, these boxes guide you through such a wide variety of flavours that you’ll very quickly find yourself talking like a pro.

Rachel’s Limited Edition Seasonal Fruits Yogurt Review

I’ve been a fan of Rachel’s Organic yogurts for awhile now, so when they asked me to review their new limited edition seasonal fruits multipack I was more than happy to oblige.

The multipack consists of 2 X 120g pots of Apple & Cinnamon yogurt and 2 X 120g pots of Apple & Rhubarb yogurt. These limited edition flavours promise a mouthwatering serving of Rachel’s goodness in wonderful seasonal flavours, but did they live up to my already high expectations?

I tried the Apple and Cinnamon flavour and was instantly impressed. Autumn/Winter always conjures up images in my mind of homemade pies and baked apples all liberally dosed with cinnamon. This little pot managed to deliver all the flavours but with nothing like the calories or hard work. The apple flavour is fresh while the cinnamon gives a wonderful wintry taste. The only problem… there were only two pots and I would have liked them to be larger 🙂

Next I tried the Apple & Rhubarb, again this yogurt displayed the usual Rachel’s creaminess, but neither the apple flavour or rhubarb were overwhelming. There can be a tendency for rhubarb to be overly sharp or stringy, but here it was subtle and well blended. Another very enjoyable yogurt.

For me there was was really no contest though, the Apple and Cinnamon had to be the winner and I’d be happy to see it in larger pots and available all year round.

Would I recommend this product?

Definitely, they have the usual Rachel’s taste, but with fresh new seasonal flavours that are sure to please.

Could it be improved in anyway?

Only it they were available in larger pots and become a regular member of the Rachel’s range.
