This past week I have been eating a product called ‘Choccy Munchy Seeds’ the name pretty accurately describes the product. It’s a mix of sunflowers and pumpkin seeds with pieces of dried apricot, all covered in yummy Belgian Chocolate.
As you may or may not know seeds are good for you! They are an excellent source of Vitamin E, Iron and Minerals. All very good things indeed, but they aren’t always the most interesting of snacks, especially for children. Choccy Munchy Seeds are free from Gluten, artificial colours and flavourings. Suitable for Vegetarians and Coeliacs. Now we know why we ‘should’ eat them, I am going to try and decide whether we will.
I’ll admit that I was unsure of this product, of course I know why I should eat seeds. In fact Anne always has a steady supply of nuts and seeds in her house. On occasion I have tried a few, but while some are nice enough, I often find them, dare I say it bland. But on the other hand I am an avid chocolate fan, so I was very intrigued by this mix. My first impression is that the packaging is fab! On top of the silver packet is a photograph of a persons hand painted to look like a macaw parrot.
The actual taste is pretty much what it sounds like, seeds covered in chocolate. I can’t honestly think how to elaborate on that. But it doesn’t taste wrong or out of place. As for the belgian chocolate, as a bit of a milk chocolate fan I didn’t feel that this was the best I’ve ever tasted, nothing specifically wrong with it but it didn’t leave me gasping for more. This however could be personal taste as my husband and children all tried them and they went down a storm. Cue a happy Mummy moment, I got them to eat something healthy!
Would I recommend this product?
If you’re looking for a healthy snack but need a more compelling reason to eat it, then the addition of Belgian chocolate certainly makes these worth a try. I think they would be absolutely perfect for a health conscious lunchbox snack.
Could they be improved in anyway?
The Choccy Munchy seeds contain Apricot but I couldn’t really taste much of it coming through, so perhaps increasing the quantity or adding another stronger fruit would be nice. But overall they do what they intend to do and do it well.
